    Hi Buddy,

The query is a bit improper as it appears to be like we have suggested you banking sector as your career path, if you are interested in your textile engineering it would be apt for you, but if you are looking for banking sector and want to know about it then take a look of the following points.

    1. It is the world's financial institution in business sector, without banks there would be a financial problems, i.e storing of money, proper utilization of money, savings of funds, loans for business, etc.... will not be possible without bank.
    2. As bank is powerful tool for both public and private sector, it also allows you variety of options to work with i.e finance, administration, management, etc....
    3. High salary packages, good hard work pays you dividend, i.e after you join with a graduation and pursue post graduation you will be promoted to the post of your qualification.
    4. More precisely you would have to work day time in banks allowing you to utilize your remaining time with friends, parents, family.

Apart from these there are many other advantages in banking sector, if your interested then pursue a career in banking sector if not stay in your field i.e Textile Engineering.
    All the best.

    Hello friend,
banking sector is very wide and very bright.Have you noticed that every year government goes to loss but banks have their profit every year very effectively.
So that's why most people get into it. Most of the IITians moved to banking because they have bright mind to polisies like insurace of anything or home loans. And they make profit. And salary package is very high.

Re: Why should I choose Banking sector for my career if I am an engineer?

it is not compulsory for you to go for a job only in banking sector
if you have intrest , you can also go for other government department jobs like ,

~~ police department for the post of subinspector
~~ railway department by writing rrb exams
    ~~ indian navy
    ~~ army
    ~~ias exam
    ~~ips exam
    ~~ airfoce jobs , etc. .

for all the above said posts , you should have a minimum of 55% in your b.tech/ degree

actaully , there are some less jobs for those who who have completed engineering in textile branch .
so, most of the candidates will look for ajob in banking sector as it is safe job .
it is also a government job

so, it is your wish , you can go for other government department posts also .
you can go for a job in banking secotr also
you can apply for the post of probationary officer in banks

you can write ibps bank p.o. exam
to apply for the post of p.o. in banks , your age should be below 30 years
relaxation for obc , sc , st categories will be applicable for 3 to 5 years

Re: Why should I choose Banking sector for my career if I am an engineer?

engineering opt for jobs in banking sector due to two reasons mainly....... the high salary and security of job that they get in banking jobs!!!!

1.HIGH SALARY: the central government banking jobs and the big private players like ICICI,HDFC,ABN AMRO etc offer quite good salary with lots of incentives for its officers compared to the IT firms in many case (though there are a few firms that pays quite good salary to its employees......but just a handful of them, not many)

2.JOB SECURITY: in the era of economic meltdown, it is very hard to stick to your job in the IT firms whose business fluctuates a lot with respect to the share market ..so in such case...there is always a chance of being fired at any time...... But the government banking jobs provide FULL JOB SECURITY
whatever happens to the share market, you will never loose your job(unless you indulge in some serious offence or gets incapable of work for some reason)

these are the two basic reasons, being an engineer you will get advantage in the banking examination...especially in the mathematical, aptitudes and numericals part of the paper........since usually engineers have a good foundation and conception of mathematics !!!

so..you may try for job in the banking sector....
    wish you good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Friend if you talk about the Banking sector and a engineer role then you will find that there are so many responsibilities in banks which only may be done by an engineer means there are so many functions in banks which are made only for engineers like - Whatever a Specialist Officer do in bank so there is a huge role of a successful engineer in bank but as a officer only not so good as clerk and you should know that there is a biggest part of banking sector in recruitment of the new employees for the work in bank so you can think that how much it is about to be increase in next few years and a huge part of Indian Economy will depend on the banking sector so you should know that banks required engineers for work and if you think about the career then you will see that there is big scope in Bank for a engineer and you may make your career brighter as if you start from any PO or SO then after sometime if you do MBA then you may be promoted for Branch Manager post and you will control a big bank and if you work well with honestly then you may go to the General Manager or Regional Manager position so it is also a great achievement so you should go for banking sector and make your career best.

    All the best

no body has asked you to go for banking sector,it is such a body where you can get good salary, after graduation but if you think that you would love to continue as a textile engineer then you must go with it ,banking sector is just a option and nothing else it depends on you what to choose and what not to,don't go by people who says that banking is very good option ,it is certainly but that doesn't mean that other options are not good.do as you like, don't go by others.

    Friend,

Banking sector is a PSU sector and for last 2 years it has been providing good number of job opportunities.
If you are working in a government textile industry, then you don’t need to fight for Banking jobs, but
in case you are an employee in a private company, then you can surely go for this job.

The good thing about Banking sector is the good package that it provides(around 6-7lac per annum in initial days) along
with various perks like extra payment for petrol, newspapers, medical facilities.

So I believe, if you already have a government job and your salary is around 6-8 lac per annum , then
you should not opt for this job and only negative thing about banking jobs is the Transfer of employee.
After every 2-3 years you’ll be asked to move to new city in your zone which will be a tedious task to
    move with your family.
