Re: Whether a candidate is eligible for the IAS exam without taking maths in graduation?

YES a candidate can appear in the UPSC Civil Services Exams even if he had not Taken Maths in Graduation.

    ELIGIBILTY:
Graduation pass from recognised university in any stream

    AGE-
    Min -21 years
    Max-30 years
OBC candidates can apply till age of 33 years
SC/ST candidates can apply till age of 35 years

    Number of attempts-
    General candidates-4
    OBC-7
    SC/ST-No restrictions

But since you are in 10th class only, so i would suggest that right now you just concentrate on passing 10th and than 12th class with very good marks.
After you take admission in Graduation, than only start preparing for these exams
As in next 5-6 years there may be many changes in the pattern and syllabus of the exams

Re: Whether a candidate is eligible for the IAS exam without taking maths in graduation?

    Dear,

Its really nice to see that you are aspiring to appear for Civil Service exams which offers the most
prestigious posts of IAS, IPS, IFS or IES in our country.

As per eligibilty, if you have done graduation of at least 3 years from any branch whether Science, Arts ,
Commerce, or professional courses like BTech, MBBS, BCA, MCA, then you are eligible to appear
for this exam. Maths is not a compulsary subject for the Civil Services exams.

So you can appear for this exam without Maths. One thing I would like add is that you'll be eligible
to appear for the exam without Maths, but in preliminary exams, questions from Maths is asked and
level of these questions are of class 8-9.

So I would suggest that you should concentrate on your current studies to get the maximum marks
in Class10. After passing 10, you can take admission in any course as per your choice, but
be in touch with Maths question. This is possible by reading Monthly Competitive Magazines like
    Pratiyogita darpan or Chronicles.

All the best for Board Exams.
