I want to appear forUGC NET exam for lecturership for Economics subject.
I just wanted to know where I can get official notification for this.
Also CSIR NET and UGC NET - are they diffrent exams?
Since notification for CSIR NET is already published, its bit confusing.

There are 2 ways to become a Govt College Professor :
1.You have to clear the UGC NET or SET/SLET Exams.
2.Other option is,securing a P.hd Degree in your subject.
NET Exams are conducted bytwice a year in June and December each year
NET Exam is conducted for:
Lecturership
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)
Educational Qualifications for the UGC-NET exams is: Post Graduation pass
Minimum 55% marks in Post Graduation for the General and OBC candidates
Minimum 50% marks for the SC/ST candidates
Next NET exams will be held in December 2013

CSIR-NET exams is for the science subjects only

National Eligibility Test (NET) is the national level entrance examination conducted in our country for postgraduate candidates who wants to pursue for admission in PhD research and/or university level teaching jobs in India.
For the humanities and art discipline it is administered by the University Grants Commission (referred to as "UGC NET") while for the science and engineering discipline it is jointly conducted by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and University Grants Commission (UGC).
As, your subject of interest is Economics, you have to apply for UGC NET which is conducted solely by UGC and not by CSIR.
The examination is conducted twice every year. The notification is released in the month of April and September for June and December examination respectively by UGC. You can get the detailed information about NET on the website below.
