    Hi Buddy,

Your dream is to become an IAS officer but you're just into your first year of graduation. It's good that you want to know what all are needed to be done in order to fulfill your dream.

--> To become an IAS officer you educational qualification must be that you must have completed your graduation only then you'll be able to apply for UPSC examination.
--> The syllabus would contain General Studies, Essay, English, Mathematics, Indian Languages. Apart from these there will be 25 different optional subjects.
--> For becoming IAS you must work very hard and make sure each step you take in reaching your goal must be very careful as a small mistake might leave you completely shattered.
--> There will be no of attempts according to reservation i.e
    OC - 4 attempts
    BC - 7 attempts
    SC/ST - No limit
--> If you fail in an attempt use the other attempts in clearing but don't get disappointed.
-->Now coming to the effort if you could spare 2-3 hours per day then it would be sufficient during the initial stages of your preparation as some people are not used to study subjects such as General Studies, history for long period of time.
--> Coaching is not necessary but if you insist to take no chances then yes it's better to go for coaching.
--> Optional subjects can be chosen based upon your interest.

I would suggest you to not think of IAS at least till your completion of 2nd year of graduation as successful completion of graduation is must and your first priority. Without Graduation you can't apply for IAS. So, make sure that you go for coaching in the 3rd year of graduation. If you wish to prepare from 1st year itself then go through some Current Affairs magazines and read news paper thoroughly daily as preparation.
    All the best.

    @ S.Venkateshwarulu

    HAI DEAR

FOR IAS EXAM U MAY START PREPARATION FROM THIS YEAR

HERE SOME GOLDEN TIPS FOR PREPARATION

    1. Be very particular about the subject you choose for prelims, as you will be appearing for an objective type of paper.
History, maths, geography may prove to be very scoring. Choose subjects which have availability of books, reading material and guidance. In recent years engineering subjects like civil and electrical can be chosen, giving BEs and IITians an edge (yes! even here they are giving the BAs and BScs a tough fight!

    2.
G.K. will definitely pay in your prelims. Reading newspapers, watching TV news and of course quiz shows like KBC is a must.

    3. If you have been lucky enough to reach the interview stage book knowledge may not be the only thing you need. Your mental alertness will count as they ask you questions like “How many steps did you walk up to reach here?” or “ What is the colour of the wall behind you ?” - So be prepared.

    4. Enhance your personality because it will definitely be one of the criteria for selection. For IPS physical wellbeing is of great importance, you should be medically fit.

    5. Improve your communication skills. IFS aspirants must be proficient in at least one foreign language. So go ahead, have your say in this political mess of our country and try to make it a better place.

    hello

Preparing for IAS is a tough job so it is advisable to start the preparation as soon as possible.

As you are in your 1st year, you have a good time period to get started for it .

So dont waste your time and start your preparations.

You can purchase some books for IAS , you can also take help of online papers or join some coaching classes.

But you are pursuing engineering so it would be difficult for you to join coaching for IAS also so you should practise on your own .

    Best of luck
