i m pursuing a btech degree right now(2nd year).i want to do mba after this.So i want to know if attempt for cat this year i.e in my 3rd year,what is the validity of the result of cat exam so that i can get into an mba college right after completing my btech?

the candidates appeared for CAT exam can use the cat score for only one year...the IIM has changed the validity of CAT Score this time. CAT Score from CAT 2011 will be only valid for period of an year. CAT 2011 score will be valid only until 31 Dec 2012, so as per details the candidate can use the cat score for one year only...prepare well..

For eg:CAT 2011 score is valid till 31 December 2012.
So u cannot appear CAT exam in 3rd year...
You have to appear for CAT 2013 i.e. in next year when you will be in fourth year..

CAT N MAT scores both r valid for one year .....but if u r really interested ,u can go for GMAT ,its score being valid for 5 years .....dont forget to boost up ur aptitude coz ol of them r aptitude tests ....ol d best

As the CAT score card is valid for one year and you are in 4th semester then you have to reappear in the CAT 2012 because all the admissions done in the from the May to June. But your result will be come in December so, how you will take part in the counselling section. So, you also appear in the CAT 2012 to take admission in the MBA.best of luck

CAT scorecard will be valid for a period of one year.
Using the percentile that you can get admission in any of the reputed colleges, if you complete your MBA from reputed college your career will be bright.
If you want to pursue your higher education in reputed colleges then again apply for CAT and secure good percentile and join into Indian Institute of Management (IIM's), if not you can get admission into any of the college based on that percentile if you have reservation.
It would be idle for you to start preparation from now on itself to secure good percentile or to get admission in any of the colleges.

The Validity of CAT is one year
CAT score handed out by the indian institute of Management will come with an expiry tag. Scorecards across India will be valid only until December 31, 2012 Though conventionally CAT scores have one year validity, it's the first time that IIMs are explicit about the expiry date. No candidate will be able to download the scorecard from the CAT website after december 31, 2012

First of all you are not eligible for appear in CAT examination in 3rd year of B.Tech.Only pass out and final year B.Tech students can apply for CAT.
CAT is an online aptitude examination for getting admission in two years post graduation course MBA. It is conducted by Indian Institute of Management(IIM).
Qualification required for CAT:
-> Candidate have to pass graduation or equivalent degree from any recognized University.
-> Candidate have to score at least 50% marks in Graduation.for SC/ST/OBC 45% required.
