If this is your first time then I would suggest you to join coaching classes because it is possible to understand by yourself. There are so many short cut tricks which you need to learn so that you can solve questions easily. You can prepare General awareness & Computer awareness at home. You simply need to read newspaper everyday. But better to buy Times Of India. This paper can provide you lots current affairs knowledge & also improve English. To prepare for English you should buy English grammar book & Dictionary. While reading newspaper crack the words whose meaning you don not know. For Computer awareness you simply buy books of Alok Kumar or Amit Varma. But if you know little bit basics of Computer then you will find easy. But for Maths & Reasoning you need to study very hard.In both the subjects there are many topics which you can not understand easily by yourself. It would be better if you join the bank coaching classes.Below I have mentioned the books which you can refer for bank clerk & po exam.

Coming on how to prepare the exam

1.Start making notes of various short cuts and tips and tricks which could be used in the exam.

2.Only Data Interpretation and Graph based questions will be asked over there.

3.Attempt only those which you know. No need to answer the question even that you donot know.

4.Hit the option only when you think it is these two available options, then you could go for hitting.

5.Start Making Practice Set Paper Daily Basis

    Coming To Books

Re: What should I prepare for SBI PO exam?

    Dear friend,

Before starting the preparation, you must first go through the examination pattern and type
of questions asked in any exam and then plan your studies to get the best result.
Let me discuss the examination pattern ans type of questions.

    Examination Pattern:

Selection is done after 2 stages of examination.
Stage 1 consists of written exam which has 2 Papers. Paper 1 is an objective question type paper
and Paper 2 consists of Subjective question type question.

Paper1 has following type of questions:
    - Reasoning
    - Quantitative Aptitude
    - General Awareness(Related to banking)
    - General Computer Knowledge
    - General English

Paper2 consists of subjective question like writing essays.

Stage 2 of recruitment consists of GD and Personal Interview.

    Preparation Strategy:
Based on the type of questions, you should check your strong and weak area of subjects and
then distribute the effort in preparation in similar ratio.

You can either do self preparation or in case you find, you are not able to improve
on any area, you can join coaching centres.

The syllabus of SBI recruitment exams and IBPS common banking exam is almost
similar, so you should also fill the form for the same.

Re: What should I prepare for SBI PO exam?

Yes. There is some syllabus for SBI PO Exam.

    Here it is,

    Reasoning
    Numerical Ability
    General Awareness
    General English
    Computer knowledge.

You have to secure minimum qualifying marks in each of these sections.

There is negative marking in the written exam also.

Once you qualify in the written Exam, you have to appear for the Interview.

Then you can get the job.
