    Hi Buddy,

It's good you have keen interest in attempting CAT entrance examination, but you must be clear in a few things before you can start of your preparation.

--> The most important thing is that when are you going to attempt the examination, because it determines the amount of time period left for you to prepare the examination.
--> If you are attempting the exam in your final year then you'll be having a time of 2 years as you're in 2nd year now.
--> But if you're attempting the exam this year or next year then you must make sure you go for the coaching as cracking CAT within short period of time is a difficult task.
--> As you have mentioned you would prepare for CAT by yourself know the different sections of CAT exam i.e Logical reasoning and assertion, Maths and English.
--> Depending upon those all things it would be better for you to take S.Chand A complete Kit for MBA entrance examination by Sanjeev Verma and J.K Gangal.

Make sure that you spend at least an hour a day in the starting so that you could make a habit of preparation in your daily time table, as you come closer to the examination date make sure you spend maximum time for preparation. I'm sure if you follow the book mentioned above and allot a minimum of 1 hour per day then you'll definitely crack CAT exam.
    All the best.

    Dear friend,

cat is a top competitive examination conducted by iim for admission into different mba colleges.

Every year its cut off marks goes higher & higher. So a candidate has to score as much as he can do.

To start preparing for cat exam is not bad.if you have the stamina, capability, quality & the desireness

then you can comfortably prepare at home.make a suitable comfortable time table to study all subjects in orderly manner.

Solve previous years question paper so that you can under the syllabus, pattern & what quality of question comes.prepare

yourself according to that. Time management is very important in every field most in the examination hall to do lots of

question in a less time for scoring good marks & ranks.

    Best of luck..........

    Hello dear,

Its good that you have started thinking about your career from 2nd year itself . I believe 4th semester is the ideal time
at which anyone should start planning for CAT OR MTECH.
For CAT exam, questions are asked from following sections:
    - Quantitative aptitude
    - Verbal Reasoning
    - Data Interpretation.
For self preparation, you should buy some good books and need to give atleast 1 hour each day in initial days and then
increase to 2 hours and 3 hours.

You can also buy a complete correspondence course of Career Launcher and Book by arun sharma for practicing
quant questions. This much preparation strategy is sufficient for starting the preparation.

As you are now in 2nd year so you'll be appearing for CAT exam in 2014, so I would suggest that in 6th sem,
you should join Test Series, so that you will get a chance to practice online test and you'll be able to judge
your level of preparation when you'll get All India rank in these practice exams.
