Education-- Graduation Pass in any stream from a recognised university.

AGE- Minimum age is 21 years for all the candidates

Your interest for IAS Exam is good.

But with 10th as your qualification, you are not eligible to give this exam, you need to complete your degree from a recognized university.

As of now, as you are in still 10th standard, choose subjects of your interest in further studies and which will be useful for the Civils exam, so that this makes your preparation for the written exam easy and easily qualify the written exam.

    Eligibility conditions are as follows:

    Educational qualification:

Any degree from recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

    Age Criteria:Minimum: 21 years
    Maximum: 30 years

Upper age relaxation for reserved category candidates is as follows:

    3 years for OBC.
    5 years for SC/ST
    10 years for PWD & Exservice-men.

    Exam Pattern:

    1. Written exam

    2. Main exam

    3. Interview

    • You are still very far away for the IAS exam, as such 5-6 years are remaining.
    • So it's possible that there may be many changes in the examination.
    • Firstly you need to complete your graduation from an recognised university.
    • There would be no boundation on the stream, so you can be from any stream i.e arts, commerce or science.
    • At an initial stage, you must provide keen interest to current affairs and general knowledge.
    • You are required to have a strong hold on any of the compulsory languages.
    • Generally it considered stream of arts is best for iAS exam.

Re: What should be done by 10th standard student to write IAS exam?

    Dear,

It’s really good to see such question coming from a 16 year old boy.

For IAS exam, the eligibility is graduation, so you should start the main preparation after taking
    admission in any graduation course.

Currently the competition has increased a lot and main mistakes which many people do is that they
Start the preparation and do not give much weightage to their academic studies and result is that
they get very less marks in graduation.
Finally if they could get success in IAS exam, then they do not have sufficient marks to be eligible for
    other jobs.

SO first thing for you is that give full concentration to your Matric syllabus and try to score the best marks,
So that you can get admission in good school for +2 and higher studies.

The preparation which you can start from today is that start reading newspapers and start taking
interest in few topics like politics, economics which will help you in broadening your thoughts.

After 10th class, whichever stream you chose whether Science, Arts or commerce, try to keep Maths
As your main or an extra subject(with comm and arts), because in IAS exams, about 30-40% objective questions
are from Maths section which becomes difficult if you are out of touch for 2-4 years.

    Hi,

If you wish to become an IAS officer, first of all you will have to complete graduation.

Its good that you have chosen your aim.

    IAS - Indian Administrative Services.

IAS exams are conducted by UPSC through CSAT.

UPSC - Union Public Service Commission.

CSAT - Civil Services Aptitude Test.

    Eligibility criteria for CSAT-

    1. Candidate should be of Indian origin.

2- Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university.

    3- Age - 21-30 years.

So, first complete your graduation and then apply for CSAT exam.

But yes, you can definitely start your preparation right after class 12th.

HiI am really sorry to say that NO 10th standard student is eligible for the IAS Entrance Exam. This is not as per the rules of Eligibility laid down by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). So at first you have to appear in your 10th boards, then 12th board and then pursue a minimum 3 years full time graduation course.Only after completion of your graduation would you be able to take part in this exam. For more info, visit www.upsc.gov.inAll the bestRegardsRANJEET
