No my friend , there are no such requirement mentioned related to percentage by UPSC till now .
So you don't worry if you got less than 70% then also you are eligible for the exam .
The requirement mentioned by UPSC is below :
-> one should done their graduation from any recognized university
-> A final year student can also eligible for applying the exam , but before the main exam one have to complete the graduation .
-> age limit is 21-30 for general cast , 3 years relaxion for obc , 5 years relaxion for sc/st/ex-serviceman , 10 years relaxion for physically handicapped .
-> maximum 4 attempts are allowed for the general cast , 7 for obc cast and no limit for the no of attempts for the sc/st cast
So there are no percentage related requirement are mentioned so don't worry just start the preparation for the exam and give it .
good luck
Hello,
It is not so, Any candidate having 60% marks in graduation and having the required age (as per the category Gen - Max 30 years) can give this exam..
You can give this exam only 4 times (allowed attempts).
Its the toughest exam among all the competitive exams and have 3 levels, where you have to clear all the levels in one attempt, failing at any point will lead you to start from the beginning..
All the best

21-30 years of age for general category students
21-33 years of age for OBC
21-35 years of age for SC/ST

all the best friend !!!!!!!
hello dear,
No its false. You requiere 60% marks at the graduation degree and have 60% in 12th standard.
Degree obtained by distance education/open university is also eligible if the university is a recognized university.
So best of luck...!!!
Regards.

We are sorry to say friend that you have got wrong information from some sources because there is not fixed percentage marks criteria to be qualified for IAS examination and each year UPSC board conduct this examination in two stages which are preliminary and mains examination and all those candidates who qualifies both prelims and mains are called for personality test so first of all you will have to face prelims examination that has 2 papers contains 400 marks and qualifying marks for IAS prelims will be decided by the board on the basis of weighted score secured by the candidates and this qualifying score was following in the year 2012 :
General Category - 209 marks out of 400
OBC Category - 190 marks out of 400
SC Category - 185 marks out of 400
ST Category - 181 marks out of 400
So you may see the cut-off score needed to be scored by all aspirants to get qualified in IAS prelims examination and you also will have to prepare according to new pattern and try to score more than 225 marks for the year 2013 because competition has been increased
There is no criteria about mains examination because mains exam has 7 papers where candidates have to choose a subject as optional for two different papers and cut-off marks of every single paper will be decided by the board so you have to think that you are going to score 100% marks and prepare according to that then you may qualify that exam also and the score of mains examination will be everything for your selection so study more for every subject
All the best
