    Is there negative marking scheme in UPSC exams?

    In this year i am going to appear for exams of upsc tell me if thereis an negetive marks schceme there.

    Dear sir/madam,
    Yes, there will be negative marking in the UPSC exams this year too. UPSC exams like IAS which will be held on 20/05/2012, there will be negative marking in this test like :
    - You will get a 1 marks each in every correct answer in UPSC exam.
    - If there will be a wrong answer then you will get negative marks will be 0.25 for every wrong answer.
    So be careful while giving the answers in UPSC exam and dont try to attempt those answers in which you will not sure while giving your answer.

    what about the paper pattern as they roughly told that there will b 2 session of exam in same day but what abt the paper pattern ? It is mentioned dat question wil b frm so n so section but carrys how many marks

    yes there is but i think these exams are so competitive that without 70% atempt there is no admission so its imp to atleast atempt more than 60% of which 90% should be correct

    Nowadays almost every exam are having negative marking to test your pure knowledge. So UPSC exams is also having negative marking.

    1/3 rd marks will be deducted for each wrong anser so be careful while giving the answers.

    That means your 3 wrong answers will deduct your marks of 1 answer.

    To tackle I suggest you to solve those question which you are feel confident and you know the answer very well.

    pattern and marking scheme of upsc exams:
    generally all the upsc exam have the following selection pattern:
    • written exam
    • interview
    now the negative marks is applicable only in written exams.
    if you give one wrong then 1/3 rd marks for that question will be deducted.

    UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission. It is the job of central government

    Eligibility for UPSC CSAT exam

    Graduation from any discipline University or its equivalent
    Candidates appearing in final year exam can apply for UPSC.
    Age limit 21 – 30 years.
    Age relaxation as per government norms.

    Negative markings apply in UPSC exam. For each wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted.
    So you should give the answer of confident question.

    There is negative marking in UPSC Exam in Preliminary(CSAT). "-1"marks will be awarded i.e. 1 mark is deducted if your answer is Wrong.All the Best.

    In the pattern of Civil Services Examination (CSE), Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has put negative marking system for objective type questions in preliminary examination.
    • A candidate will lose 1/3rd of the marks (0.33) assigned to a question in case it is wrong.Same rule will apply if they give more than one answer.
    • If the question is left unanswered, there will be no penalty.

    yes there is a negative marking scheme in UPSC exams

    Negative Marking System

    UPSC has now introduced negative marking system in the Prelims exam.Negative marking system means sustracting marks for wrong answers.Accordingly for every wrong answer 1/3 of the total marks alloted for the question are deducted.Hence for general studies 0.33 marks each wrong will be deducted and for optional subjects 0.83 marks will be deducted.

    so i will suggest you to answer that question only about which you are 100 %sure

    • UPSC civil services examination has three stages which are preliminary exam, main exam and last interview.
    • Yes, there is an provision for the negative marking in the preliminary examination.
    • For your's every wrong answer 1/3 marks is deducted in preliminary exam.
    • However in the Main examination, there is no negative marking criteria.
    • Preliminary examination is an objective type paper which has total two papers.
    • You must have to attend only those questions in which you are confident.
    • There is no negative marking for the questions which you haven't attended.

    Yes there is negative marks in UPSC civil services exams that is for every wrong answer 1/3rd marks of the correct answer will be deducted.For every three wrong answer one correct answer marks will be deducted.

    In the UPSC Prelims exams there will be two papers.
    Both will be of objective type
    There will be negative marking of 1 marks for each wrong answer

    Topics of both these papers are:
    Paper oneHistory of India and Indian National Movement.
    Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
    Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights

    Hi,

    Yes, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks in UPSC exams.

    UPSC conducts these exams –

    Civil Services Exams – IAS/ IPS/ IFS

    NDA – national defence services

    CDS- combined defence services

    IES- indian engineering services

    CMS- combined medical services

    SCRA - special class railway apprentice

    All of these exams have negative markings

    All these exams except SCRA and NDA require graduation as minimum qualification.

    However IES and CMS are specifically for engineering and medical graduates.

    NDA and SCRA are for intermediate passed candidates.

    Yes there is a negatie marking scheme in UPSC exams.

    Marking scheme for UPSC exams :

    - You will get 1 mark for each correct answer.
    - There is negative marking.
    - 25% of 1 mark will get cut in the negative marking.

    Hai,

    there is negative marking scheme in upsc exams from this year because upsc releases new rules and procedures
    for the exam conducted by it.

    3 wrong answers= 1 mark
