Hello Everyone !This is Dev. I am preparing for UPSC . Bit confused out here. Actually I have a great background in Geography. But currently I am studying Public Administration and Psychology as electives in mains. Because which institution i am in now doesn't offers Geography. Now among these three subjects which two should I go with ?Is Geography a scoring subject ?Please help me out of this confusion.Thank You.

There should be no confusions as such.. You should go with the subject of your domain and of your interest and in which you have good knowledge with all basics clear.
From your given information you should go for geography and one from Public administration and psychology, preferred Public Administration.
IAS is one of the toughest competitive exam which can ask any question from your subject, so choose in which you have confidence and the two subjects will be very helpful to you that i have suggested as many topics will be covered in Pre paper also...
Choice is yours, we can only advice.

I am a electronics engineer. I have chosen mathematics as on of my optionals since it is my favourite subject as well as my strength. I am confused between geography and public adminstration. Geography is easy to understand but requires lots of time and data to remember. while public adminstration has consice syllabus but feels boring to read.

We all know that UPSC civil services is the most sought after job on our country and people dream to become IAS, IPS IFS etc.
Since this exam is very tough and requires through knowledge of the subject, you should only choose those subjects in which your basics is very strong as syallabus is vast and they can ask questions from any chapter.
In my view you should choose geography as one of the subjects as geopgrahy is more score subject than pshycology.
therefore you should choose geography and public administration.
prelims exams wil be held in may 2013 , so you should decide on the subjects quickly and start preparing.
HELLO DEV ,dear no confusion.you should go for with subject your interest ,geography because mostly concepts clear in this subject so you go for choose georaphy.am only suggest you choice is your .IAS exam is tough for comeptitive exams.in my view you choose geography you get more marks than pshycology. chapterwise ask question every topic so, which subject will be helful to you go for it .and work hard .
