    dear friend,

actually there is not a particular stream that can be selected for IAS exam

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service
and is conducted by UPSC every year

    Education qualification for IAS is

candidate should have a degree from a recognised university

there is no specified degree for it

so you can choose any stream after 10th according to your interest
if you wanna prepare for IAS exams

and if you are interested in ARTS field
then its good because there are paper based on
    history ,geography and economics

    but its all your choice
otherwise as i said before also it doesn't matter which stream you choose

    this exam is conducted in 3 stages;

    preliminary exam
    mains

Hi guest, It's good that you are very careful for the preparation of Indian administrative exam (Ias) . But in graduation there is no boundation in any kind of stream or discipline. You may choose any stream according to your interest and choice. There is no minimum percentage required for that. Your age must be between 21 years to 30 years if you are general category students, three years relaxations to obc category and five years relaxations to sc/st category. Thanx

    Dear Akanksha,
There is no restriction on the selection of stream.

But it will be very tough to prepare for IAS along with Medical.

There is no thing called impossible. If you work extremely hard you can but beware you IAS preparation should not effect your Medical studies.

IAS is a very tough exam and Medical course also.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IAS EXAM IS:-

==>You should have a graduation degree in any stream. There is no minimum marks needed.

==>If you are a general candidate your age should be 21-30 years. For SC/ST 21-35 years and for OBC age should be 21-33 years.

    ==>You should be Indian citizen.

    NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS:-

    >>General Candidates: 4
    >>OBC Candidates: 7
    >>SC/ST Candidates: no limit.

    EXAM PATTERN:-

    Preliminary Exam
    Main Exam
    Interview

You need to choose 2 optional subjects but it is not mandatory to choose the subjects of your graduation only. Being a Medical student you can choose Arts subjects, no problem at all.

    Hi,

You can choose any stream after class 10th, in order to become IAS.

For IAS , you need to be a graduate and that can be done in any discipline.

IAS exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission, every year, which is notified in all the leading newspapers.

Eligibility criteria for IAS exams are -

    Nationality –

You should be an Indian citizen.

    Educational Qualification -

You should have bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university.

    Age –

Your age should be between 21 years to 30 years, if general category.

Re: Which stream is better to choose after 10th for IAS preparation?

First of all, IAS examination can be written by any graduate irrespective of any percentage you got, keeping in these mind, let us see some of the criteria for IAS exam first.

    Eligibility:-

    >>must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination.

    >>Also you must be a graduate from any recognised university.

    >>number of times you can attempt IAS Exam is 4 for general category while for OBC,PH it is 7 years, while for SC/ST it is unlimited.

    >> A citizen of India, obviously you are a citizen of India.

    Regarding choice of subjects:-

General studies is common for all, so while selecting for optional papers, you should select carefully which you have interest, materials for that subject must be available also, here are some of them, but these combinations are not allowed by UPSC:

Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration

    Commerce and Management

    Anthropology and Sociology

    Maths and Statistics

Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science

    Management and Public Administration

Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science

    Any two branches of engineering.

    Combination of two literatures.

    >>Also History and geography seemed to be scoring in this area, History is good if you can spend more than 4-5 hours everyday.
You can also take geography if you can spend at least 3-4 hrs every day. Pub Ad, more than 3 hours etc. So, the bottomline is take a subject of your interest and must be useful in your future so that scoring is easy for you.

You can visit www.upsc.gov.in for more details.

    All the best!!

    Hi
For being an IAS officer, you need to be very good at your current awareness, and moreover, you need to chose two subjects out of the listed 17 subjects by the upsc. Therefore, if you have the interest in subjects like history, geography, political science then you should definitely go on for the arts stream. Because it will provide a great help to you in future in achieving your goal of becoming an IAS officer.

The minimum academic qualification that is required for the candidate to be eligible for IAS Exam is Graduation.

So still you have 5 more years to appear for this exam.

My suggestion is to opt for the streams as per your interest.

But gain good subject knowledge in your chosen course.

This will help you to prepare for civil services main exam.

    This exam is very difficult.

Only hard working candidates can crack it.

    so all the best
