there are different college which have different cut off and also in different courses have different marks cut off but for the good college you should have minimum 70% marks to get into there otherwise you have to sit in the entrance exam of different colleges. and you also mention that in which college cut off you want

As you not qualify the exam and you want to drop for it. But I also want to tell you the rule of the IIT-JEE attempt. A candidates can attempt JEE maximum two times in consecutive years of whether or not he/she passed QE.As you already given the first attempt and you have only second chance then i will suggest you do also some other engineering tests because without the IIT-JEE you can also get the admissions in some top reputed colleges. So, if you want to drop for exam entrance then also focus on some other engineering test.

It is not possible to say that the minimum cut off marks of the colleges because different colleges cut off marks depends upon the no. of application received by that institutes.

You should have to apply in some university engineering tests like IP-CET, Jamia Milia Islamia, Kerla CET, Banglore CET, Delhi CEEEngineering test,TENA, WBJEE, EAMCET, CUSET, BITSAT, MHTCET

You can also give the entrance exam of the above test for the admission because these tests are not hard as IIT-JEE.

    best of luck

the deccision for a year for iit should be taken if you are sure that you can be selected next year. so try to get good marks this year. the cut off of the exam is not fixed, it changes every year. you can see the previous year cut off from the site of iit.
    best of luck for exams.

the 10000 applicants are selected per year and iit decide cut off on that basis that not more than 10000 candidates are selected. the cut off changes every year and dont think negative about your selection just do hard work to be selected.

Now The System Has Changed. There Will be no concept of Drop and i would Say you to Avoid it. There Will Be Only one Exam and Based On that you will be selected. Tis will affect from 2012 i guess. So I would say if you are thinking of dropping this is your last chance.

I prefer you not to take drop if you are not selected in IIT-JEE.because as the year passes the competition is increasing so if you get seat in any good institution or college or university then do not leave that.
as the competition is increasing as i mentioned earlier ,because of this there is no fixed cut off to get admission in good college .so better you should prepare of every examination and give your best .

If your preparation is not good and you are not going to get a good college the you should sure drop this yr and prepare well for the next year.
you can try for iit once again if you have dropped in the next year to 12th.
As far as cut off marks for good college is concerned ,every year it varies but for good colleges thorough AIEEE you have to score more than 45% in its exam and for iit you have to score more than 40% jee exam.
Some of the good colleges like VIT, KIIT, MIT etc conduct their own test and in their test you have to score more than 50% to get that college and a good branch of your choice.

    hello buddy

It is important to have a gap certificate as you dropped for one year to take admission in professional degrees like B.Tech

It is easy to take admission in B.Sc when compared to B.Tech without any gap certificate

and the course selection depends on your personal interest if you just want a name sake degree then go for B.Sc and you'll get a job and settle in your life soon but with low salary.

if you want a professional career with good degree take up B.Tech by giving any of the entrance like JEE AIEEE etc.,

and get a good seat in good college do your b.tech with concentration build up your career in your style with lots of opportunities

    Take a wise decision

    thank u

Re: Should I take a drop if not selected in IITJEE? What is the minimum cutoff marks for getting in good college?

    Dear friend,

iitjee cutoff marks is not fixed & can not be predicted .it depends upon the students performance & maximum

marks obtained.the no of seats in iitjee is around 11,500 in 2012.around 4.5 lakh student appear iitjee examination

every year.so it is very top.but if you do hard work, you should have clear all your concepts in subjects ,then it is easier

to answer any type of question.al ways confident that you can do anything, be positive that you will get selected .

If you are not selected in this year & if you are confident that you can get iit next year then drop

1year otherwise admit in according to aieee rank, because a career gap can play a huge role in your life.

    Best of luck.........

    Selected in this year

Re: Should I take a drop if not selected in IITJEE? What is the minimum cutoff marks for getting in good college?

    hi,
    dear friend,
IIT -JEE entrance exam is all india entrance exam for taking admission in top engineering colleges of the country , every 6-7 lakh students fill the forms and from that only 8000 are selected .... so the competition is tough , you have to be prepared about all these things..

regarding the one year drop after 12th , then it is a good decision if you want to drop one year , do preparations and then go for this entrance then it is a good strategy , but one thing remember you have to work hard to clear the entrance exam that;s for sure ...

regarding the cut off marks, so i tell you that the cut off list is decided every year on the basis of the no of students appeared for the exam and the students getting marks ,...

so, all the best have a bright future ahead....

    Hello,
there is no way of taking a drop of one year after attempting one's as IITJEE examination board has clearly defined that a candidate can attempt this exam twice in consecutive two years..
So there is no option for you, you have to prepare well for it and give your best in this attempt only and have to score minimum of 70% marks..
Else cut-off will depend on the competition level and the marks scored by the students...

    All the best
