Dear there are following optional subjects are offered by UPSC board for mains examination of civil service and you can choose any one from the following list of subjects and there will be two papers conducted for this optional subject paper means Optional paper I and Optional Paper II and qualifying in both papers is compulsory and also in all papers of mains examination and each paper contains 250 marks and all papers of mains examination will be conducted in conventional type pattern

    >> Agriculture
    >> Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    >> Anthropology
    >> Botany
    >> Chemistry
    >> Civil Engineering
    >> Commerce and Accountancy
    >> Economics
    >> Electrical Engineering
    >> Geography
    >> Geology
    >> History
    >> Law
    >> Management
    >> Mathematics
    >> Mechanical Engineering
    >> Medical Science
    >> Physics
    >> Philosophy
    >> Political Science & International Relations
    >> Psychology
    >> Public Administration
    >> Sociology
    >> Statistics
    >> Zoology

If you wants to choose psychology as your optional subject then you may choose and you do not need to complete your bachelor's degree in psychology to select this as optional subject because you are independent to choose any one subject from the above list and graduation is not essential in that particular subject that you are going to choose so do not worry about this and complete your bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university

I have attached complete notification for this year's civil service examination so please download and get more details about this examination

    All the best
