    Reference books and important information related to preparation of ICAR NET exam?

    Sir,I ve completed M. Sc in Food Science and Technology and now i am going to appear in icar net exam feb in food science and technology.
    Plz recommend me some books and other important info related to preparation.

    ICAR-Indian Council of Agricultural Research

    National Eligibility Test is an entrance examination which recruits candidates for the post of Lecturer or Assistant Professor in the State Agricultural Universities and other Agricultural Universities




    Age Limits

    For National Eligibility Test

    *An applicant must have minimum age of 21 years. There is no upper age limit for National Eligibility Test

    For Agricultural Research Service

    *Applicants applying for ARS examination should be between 21 years and 32 years.
    *SC / ST applicants have maximum of 5 years of upper age limit
    * Maximum upper age limit is 3 years in case of OBC
    *10 years for physically challenged people
    *Candidates with Ph.D degree have maximum upper age limit of 35 years.
    *SC / ST applicants with Ph.D Degree have upper age limit of 40 years
    For OBC applicants it is 38 years
    For physically challenged it is 45 years

    Educational Qualification

    ARS / NET Examination requires a post graduate in the concerned subjects along with defined specialization. For ARS Main Examination a candidate should be a Post Graduate or equivalent in concerned subject.


    Syllabus for the Food science and technology

    Natural Resource Management
    Agricultural Sciences
    Fisheries Sciences
    Social Sciences
    Agricultural Engineering And Technology
    Veterinary Sciences
    Dairy Sciences And Technology

    Number of Attempts

    An applicant M.Sc and Ph.D can apply four times to the Agricultural Research Service Examination. Number of attempts is not applicable for SC / ST applicants who are otherwise eligible.

    Examination Pattern

    1. Prelim – ARS / NET Examination

    * Time allotted – 2.30 hrs
    *Number of Questions – 200 Objective type asked from General Knowledge 50 Questions and 150 Questions from Professional Subjects
    *Total Marks – 200
    *Minimum Qualifying marks for General and OBC applicants is 50% and for SC / ST applicants it is 45%.
    *For each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted from the maximum marks allotted to that question

    2. ARS – Main Examination

    Time allotted – 3 hours
    Total Marks: 240

    *Number of Questions – 15 Subjective Questions
    *They will ask 10 question one question will be compulsory two question have a multiple choice

    Number of Candidates selected for Viva Voce is 5 times of Total Vacancy.

    3. Viva Voce

    *Applicants should have cleared the Main ARS Examinations
    *Viva Voce will be of 60 marks

    Structure and Syllabus of ICAR








    ICAR Entrance Exam for undergraduate program consists of one question paper with MCQ pattern in bilingual model. The applicant can pick any of the streams depending upon his / her subject of choice.


    There will be two streams with 180 questions, Stream A and Stream B:


    STREAM – A


    Agriculture
    Horticulture
    Fisheries
    Forestry
    Home Science
    Sericulture
    Biotechnology
    STREAM – B


    Agriculture Engineering
    Dairy Technology
    Food Science
    Agricultural Marketing
    Banking & Co-operation
    For stream A entrance test, the subject’s composition is


    Physics
    Chemistry
    Biology / Agriculture
    For stream B, the subject’s combination is


    Physics,
    Chemistry
    Mathematics


    Eligibility Criteria


    The candidates must have cleared higher secondary exam with minimum 50% marks
    in in or equivalent/Inter (Agriculture) with specific subject grouping like
    PCM and PCB. Only 40% marks in aggregate is needed for the SC, ST and PH categories.
    Candidate who has supplementary papers in plus two examinations is not eligible for
    the same. Candidates who are going to write final examination can also take the entrance
    test. Candidates above 17 years of age but not more than 23 years are only eligible to apply.


    How to Apply?


    The forms will be available by payment OF Rs 400/- from Registrars of Agricultural Universities. It is also obtained from the specified branches of Syndicate Bank and from five ICAR Institutions by payment through DD of Rs 450 /- from last week of December to mid of February .Candidates can also download the form from the official website of ICAR which is http://www.icar.org.in .

    There would be two papers conducted by the ICAR and you have to qualify in both papers then you would reach to the interview process and after qualifying interview process you would be allowed to teach in government colleges etc. and you may make your career in agriculture research.

    ICAR conducts entrance exam for the postion of lectures/ professors in Agricultural Universities / colleges.

    Eligibility criteria for ICAR –
