    Hello,
GATE is the most popular course in the present Era. As most of the Companies now have made their minimum qualification to GATE for Test.
Preparing for GATE can be easy as preparing for your college examination. just take a Little caution while studying any topic and do remember the GATE paper focus on your depth knowledge of subjects, your basic and presence of mind.

    My Recommendation-
    Always follow standard books.
Try to Expertise any portion of the syllabus.

Re: Provide some tips to Crack GATE exam ? Which books is considered best for the preparation of GATE ?

    Hello friend,,,

    TIPS TO CRACK GATE:

    • Follow standard books, stress on understanding things than memorizing them.
    • Solve objective type (especially numericals) questions as much as possible.
    • No need to cover the entire syllabus.
    • Keep preparing your personal notes as you cover topics.
    • Do not practice questions in rough. You may need to see the solutions at the time of revision.
    • Go through previous year papers (say last 10 years) to check your knowledge and note the distribution of different topics.
    • Revision is one of the most important step of the preparation process (around 20 days before examination).
    • Follow your notes during this time and solve time-bound question papers (preferrably last year papers).
    • Take a chill-pill on the day before exam. Relax!!!!!!!!!!
    • Do not make any guesses in the paper. If possible, try to eliminate the choices by minimum calculation/analysis.
Even you find the paper tough, DO NOT panic. It'll be hard for all Junta...

Re: Provide some tips to Crack GATE exam ? Which books is considered best for the preparation of GATE ?

    Friend,

GATE exam is conducted every year in the month of February for admission in MTech courses
of deemed colleges. Since last 2-3 years, many PSU companies have started recruiting on the
GATE scorecard, hence the importance of this exam has increased more.

Some of the main colleges where you can get admission after being selected:
    - IIT Mumbai
    - IIT Delhi
    - IIT Kanpur
    - And all othe IITS
    - Central Universities
    - NITs

The registeration for this exam starts for the final year candidates. So when you reache 7th semester, the registeration will
start from the month of Aug-Sep.

So you must register for this exam, as it'll provide good opportunity for higher studies as
well as opportunity to get jobs in PSU companies like BPCL, HPCL, Powergrid.

For some good books, I would suggest that you can buy a complete package from
MADE EASY, rather than buying different books for each subjects.

If you are doing self study, then also you should join test series of Gate forum or Made easy,
which help you in judging your level of preparation.

Re: Provide some tips to Crack GATE exam ? Which books is considered best for the preparation of GATE ?

    Hello friend,

You can refer following site to get all information about books ,previouse year question papers and many more about GATE examination.

Cracking GATE 2013 is Just 5 Steps Away!

GATE is organized by IITs and IISc, which have pioneered advanced education at master’s level in India. The sole purpose of GATE is not only to conduct a test for admission but to identify the suitable engineers/researchers in various areas and make them to choose their area of choice in which they can pursue their master degree. So it is clearly not child’s play. It is a cut-throat competition and you have to make every moment count in order to establish yourself. But before you begin to worry let me tell you it may be hard but not impossible. So stay focused, follow some guide and you’re good to go. The date held for GATE 2013 is January 20, 2013. Till then all you got to do is follow the 5 steps:

    • Clear concepts: Those four years of engineering that you thought to have left behind
are here to haunt you again. It is time that you open your college books because fundamental preparation is always effective. It’s time that you make sure all your basic concepts are clear and work on those parts that are fundamentally weak.

    • Solve previous year questionnaire: Solving previous years’ papers gives you a fair
idea of what the actual paper would be like. It also brushes up your basics and exposes your ‘area of improvement.’

    • Analyze: It is very necessary for the you to analyze the test results otherwise
the test would be of no value at all. Analyze your accuracy rates in various topics and maintain a topic wise datasheet which lists your performance topic wise for different test papers.

    • Take up a target: High score in the test does not necessarily denote a big achievement after all. GATE is an exam in which people are selected on their relative scores. So even if you have scored 95% it does not essentially translate to a percentile of 95. You are competing with the best in India, and to get through GATE you should know where you stand to be among the ‘top few’ selected for the interview. A test series of this sort is being provided by GATE Forum.

    • Just chill! Don’t tire out your brain. Take a break and use that time to gather more
information about the exam, either from internet or from your seniors at IITs.

The criteria for getting admission in IIT for M.Tech through GATE :

For this year i.e 2013 the merit closed on 97.44 percentile.

I hope I have given all answers which you were looking for.

    All the best!! Study hard!!

    Regards,

    Harshada.

Re: Provide some tips to Crack GATE exam ? Which books is considered best for the preparation of GATE ?

My friend if you are currently in B.tech then the smallest way to score more is to study the topic which is same in both GATE and your B.Tech syllabus at the same time when it is taught in your college. For e.g. If Laplace transformation is taught in your lecture then you should practice it from GATE point of view as it is also in it;s syllabus. This will put on you the burden at the end.

If you have passed B.tech then you should join a coaching and prepare well that is the only way left to you.

The best books for preparation are Arihant publication and previous years papers.

    All The Best
