    i want to study M.tech.
    i studied B .Tech Mechanical.
    what is the percentage of marks
    in degree required for eligibility

    Dear friend
    the eligibility criteria for GATE exam is-
    • Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
    • Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes..
    • Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology
    • Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.
    • Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

    I was wondering that what should be the minimum eligibility to do from IITS.You need minimum 60 percent.

    1. B.tech percentage must be above 60.

    2. Subjects related to your engineering stream, the basics of each subject as there may be a wriiten test for admission to M.tech if the number of candidates. Written test decision totally on the department offering M.tech programme in IITS.

    3.percentage to read more about it refer to how to calculate GATE.

    4.A candidate in this category is sponsored by a recognised,academic institution,government organisation of industry for doing M.tech in the institute on a basis.

    5.This category refers to candidates who are professionally employed personnel as per the schedule of the in the institute. The applicant must be a regular employee of a recognized least two years of experence at the time of admission.

    6.Engaged in professional work in the descipline admission is sought will be professional work in the provided by the institute to such students.

    Dear Friend,

    If you wants to do M.Tech after finishing B.Tech you have to appear in GATE( Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering). It is an all India entrance examination which is conducted by one of IITs respectively in every years.


    * Candidate who are in final year of 4 years B.E/B.Tech are eligible for GATE.

    * candidate who pass B.E/B.Tech or in M.Sc final year in either maths,Physics,Chemistry or electronics are eligible.

    * candidate who are in 4th or 5th year in their 5 years Integrated Master degree course are eligible.

    * There is no specific marks required for being eligible in GATE.

    * Age of the candidate must be at least 21 years.

    * Candidate can attempt at most 3 times in GATE.

    -> After the result of GATE a GATE SCORE and ALL INDIA RANK will be given if you scre above the Cutoff marks. This score is required for getting admission in M.Tech.


    All questions are objective type in GATE. There are total 65 question each carrying either 1 or 2 marks. For each wrong answer of 1 marks questions 0.33 marks and for each 2 marks question 0.66 marks will be deducted from you total marks.

    About Application Process

    candidate have to apply online for GATE in the following website

    Application Process stats on 2nd September 2013 and ends on 1st October 2013.
    Examination fees- Rs 1200/- for general male candidates, Rs 600/- SC/ST/OBC male candidate, no exam fee for all female candidates.

    First of all Soon after the competition of the B.TECH ( MECHANICAL ) you will need to Write an Entrance Exams

    <> State Level Entrance Exams for getting Admission in to M,.TECH

    <> Or else the "" G.A.T.E "" exam ( Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering )

    So based on the Rank you will be called for the

    And also based on the Rank and Seats you will need to Select the
    "" Sub Stream ""

    You must have
    Minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% in the Qualifying Degree

    You must have a
    Bachelor Degree in Engineering / Technology in an Appropriate Area

    You must have a
    Valid G.A.T.E score or else the State Level Entrance Exam Rank Card

    So prepare well for the exam
