    Optional subjects and Reference books for Civil Service Examination :There are various books for preparation of Civil Service Examination like R.S Aggarwal for Quantitative Aptitude.The eligibility criteria is compulsory for all participate candidates and graduation degree in any stream from recognized University/institution.

    Age limit criteria for all participating candidates in various categories are following as :

    1) If you are belonging to General caste category then your age should be in between 21 to 30 years.

    2) But if you belonging to Other Backward Class(OBC) then minimum age should be in between 21 to 33 years.

    3) In case of SC/ST caste candidates then age limit should be in between 21 to 35 years.

    For Civil Service examination you need to clear two paper: one is General studies and another is optional paper.In optional paper you required to choose any one subjects according to specified subjects.

    Eligiblity Criteria for Civil service exams:


    *A person should be Citizen of India
    *A candidate should have age betwen 21 to 30 years this is only for the General Category.
    *A candidate should have age between 21 to 33 years for the OBC caste
    *A candidate should have age between 21 to 35 if he belong to the SC/ST Caste

    Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for Civil Service Exam exam.

    But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

    The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

    Also you must be in citizen in India.

    The Civil Service Exam selection process is consist in three way

    1)Preliminary exam
    2)Main exam
    3)Inter View.

    There are lot of options available for science students as well as all stream students in choosing the subjects for IAS mains..
    For preliminary exam you should have the knowledge of almost every field up to basic level..like general studies , language, general knowledge etc
    It also depends upon the subjects in which you graduated ...

    In order to crack civil services exam, you need to get over the 3 stages. They are :


    Prelims
    Mains
    Personal Interview

    The preliminary exam consists of 2 papers which carries 200 marks each. If you Crack a good marks in the Preliminary exam you can appear for the Main exam. The Main exam consists of 9 papers.

    You have to choose the Optional Subjects in main examination, You have to choose the subjects on the basis of your graduation Only. Here I am Providing you the list of subjects, so please check these subjects and choose accordingly.

    You can't choose the following combination of subjects in Civil Service exam :


    (a) Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration
    (b) Commerce & Accountancy and Management
    (c) Anthropology and Sociology
    (d) Mathematics and Statistics
    (e) Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
    (f) Management and Public Administration
    (g) Of the Engineering subjects, viz., Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering–not more than one subject

    Dear friend,

    Civil Service Exam is conducted by UPSC every year.

    Upcoming Exam will be conducted on 19 May 2013.

    And Notification will be released on 2 February 2013.

    Candidates can fill Online Application through site: http://upsconline.nic.in from 2 February and onwards.

    You will have to crack three stages to qualify Civil Services Exam.

    >> Preliminary Exam (CSAT Exam)

    >> Mains Exam

    >> Personal Interview


    Exam Pattern of Mains Exam is:

    You will have to choose Optional Subject from the given list:

    You must choose those Optional Subjects from which you have done Graduation.

    So, that while preparation you may feel easy to learn and grasp concepts.
