NET exam is conducted by ugc twice in a year in the month of June and December. it's contain three papers. for the 1st paper u can buy book of Dr. r.s aggarwall and upkar publication.
and for the other two papers u can buy book of the both the authors as per subject u have choose...
Net Set exam. for 1012 will be mostly in the month of March, 2012 for June(Exam) and in the month August/Sept., 2012 for December Exam. For any subject you can open the UGC site. You get the syllabus as well as question papers. If you learn the questions for last 01 years. I can assure you that you will get qualified. For preparation on NET SET, you must have to collect the latest term on your subjects and must have to have information about that. For Example Mostly Automation and Management part of Library and Inforamtion Science is being questioned. Do hard work for at least one year. But don't be upset if you don't get in one sitting. I can assure you if you prepare and sit for 2nd time, you will be successful.

Now It has also become easy to pass for Library and Information Science. Because the 3rd paper is also MCQ (Multiple Choice Question). And you will be able to know your marks immediately after appearing the examination. It will prove the transparancy in examination. So do more and more practise with MCQ only.

Exam is conducted twice in a year May and December, notifications for these in month of march and october respectively.

SET 2012 Pattern/ Syllabus:-
The examination duration is 2.30min. It conducts objective type question. Each question has the four option as per answer have the paper is conducted in two session for five question papers. Morning session set papers are for law, Engineering, Health Sciences and afternoon session for general and design for five question paper. There is no negative marking system for wrong answer.

Paper III- Descriptive Type – Core Subject – will have four sections. Section 1- 5x5= 25 marks (30 words), Section 2 –15x5=75 marks (30 words), Section 3- 5x12= 60 marks (200 words) and Section 4- 1x40= 40 marks(1000 words)
Grand Total = 400 marks

Both the exams are extremely tough......you need to be very consistent with your preparation.
study hard ,,,,,,,,take mock tests......solve previous years papers!!!!
your conception in the subjects should be very good and you must study around 10 hours a day
do meditation in your leisure ......it will boost up your confidence
time management is an important skill that you should learn in order to cope up with fast nature of the test.....you will get very little time per question during the exam,......so many students failed to complete the paper on time....thus their ranks get degraded.....so whatever you do.....do learn time management for completing your exam paper in time
