Last date for registration-CA exam
A candidate can register for the CA-CPT Course at least 2 months prior to the first day of the month in which the CPT is scheduled to be held. For example, students who wish to appear for the December 2012 test should register for the CPT Course by the end of September 2012.
Eligibility:
1. The aspiring candidate for a CA exam should have cleared the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2). Students waiting for (10+2) results can also apply.
2. Students can join a CA program after (10+2) or graduation. There is no restriction in terms of age or percentage secured in (10+2).
Admission Process and CA Entrance Exam Pattern
1. CPT – Common Proficiency Test is the most important examination to be cleared by the candidates in order to enter the area of chartered accountancy.
2. Common proficiency test is conducted 2 times in a year in the months of June and December.
3. CPT includes 4 subject tests that the candidate is required to clear. The subjects are as follows:4. CPT is a 2 hours exam and is divided into 2 sessions each. CPT is an objective type 200 marks exam with negative marking for wrong answers.
- A: Accounting
- B: Mercantile Laws
- C: General Economics
- D: Quantitative Aptitude Test
5. The CPT examination requires the candidate to secure 50% marks for qualifying.

Chartered AccountancyTo be able to take up chartered accountancy course, first step is to be registered with Institute of Chartered Accountants. Download the registration form from the official website of ICAI. Then send the duly filled application form along with requisite registration fee. Next you can apply for Common Proficiency Test. This is conducted twice a year.
Minimum Qualification: Pass in 10+2 pattern examination.
CPT is a objective type paper of two hour duration. Subjects of CPT is
- Fundamentals of Accountancy
- Mercantile Law
- General Economics
- Quantitative Aptitude
B.Com pass candidates securing at least 50% marks, other stream graduates with 55%(60% if with Mathematics) need not write CPT as they can directly make entry to IPCC course. For further enquiry and notification of CPT visit official website.
