Which job should I choose Bank PO Officer or Bank IT Officer?

I have done my BE (IT) and MBA in IT..I am looking for a job in bank but I am confused about the exam I should appear for...After reading about the pros and cons of IT officer and PO I think a bank PO has more growth in his/her service whereas an IT officer is stagnant...although the IT officer profile suits my qualification, I am still confused ..can anyone help ???

You can apply for the exam. Both will suit you a lot but IT will more because of your qualification.
It is true that PO has more chance to grow as compared to IT officer. But let me tell you both posts have high chance to grow.
But to grow higher its up to your performance,The more good work you do,the more you will rise. You should know that IT officer comes under Specialist officer.
I suggest you to apply for the exams.Date of exam will different. If selected for both then give your choice in which you want to go.

    Eligibility for PO exam-

1.You should be graduate from a recognized university with at least 55%(50% in case of SC/ST/OBC) or post-graduate from a recognized university.
2.Age must be between 21 years & maximum 30 years.
3.Age relaxation in case of SC/ST/ up to 5 years & OBC up to 3 years.
    4.Computer knowledge is essential.

Eligibility for Information Technology officer(Scale 1):-

    1.Degree in Computer science/Computer application/Electronics/Electronics & communication/Electronics & Telecommunication/Electronics & Instrumentation/Information technology.OR
    2.Post-graduate in above subjects.OR
3.Graduate in DOEACC "B" level from a recognized university.

Re: Which job should I choose Bank PO Officer or Bank IT Officer?

    Dear sir,
The job in a bank as PO is much more growth oriented as compared specialist officer because as a specialist officer you have to follow only one field but as a PO bank provides you various of fields to grow. One another reason to go for PO is that the number of vaccancies is much more higher than specailist officer so as per my advice you have to go for the PO of various banks. It enhances the chances to get the job.
    Thanks and regards

Re: Which job should I choose Bank PO Officer or Bank IT Officer?

According to your qualification you may apply for both PO and IT Officer posts because you have enough and suitable qualification but as you have mentioned that Bank PO have more growth in his/her career so you should not think so because a IT Officer also have so many chances after being an IT Officer but Bank PO is better than IT officer because you may apply for various exams and you will get the chance to become a Branch Manager if you have MBA in any stream then you will get the chance to become as Assistant General Manager and Assistant Regional Manager so there would be more option for you after PO post so it would be better for but if you choose IT Officer post so it would not be helpful to grow your career ahead than others but you may apply for both and you must apply for both exams and prepare for both exams then analyze that which exam you may crack and score higher then decide that whatever you do and if you are interested for Bank PO then go for it.

If you have a bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 60% marks and your age is between 20-30 years then you may apply for bank PO exam and relaxation in age as per government guidelines.

If you have a bachelor degree in any one of - Information Technology, Electronics, Electronics and Instrumentation, Agriculture, MBA in Marketing, Degree in Law, then you may apply for Bank Specialist Officer and age should be between 20-35 years and relaxation in age as per government guidelines.

    All the best

Arrow Re: Which job should I choose Bank PO Officer or Bank IT Officer?

I'll suggest that go for IT officer . because only B.tech graduates is eligible for this post but for P.O any graduates can apply.the career growth is very fast in IT officer in PSU banks and u'll be recognized as a Technical Knowledgeable person which is good respect than other posts in bank. ITO is also most valuable post in Psu bank.ITO comes in specialist officer grade and a ITO is senior than a PO and initial pay scale is also a little bit higher than PO.so, go for ITO.best of luckkk!
