Re: How to overcome the age factor of IAS exam?

There is no way you can overcome Age factor if you Belong to General Category.

Age limit for the IAS or UPSC civil Services Exams is:
General Candidates- between 21 and 30 years
OBC candidates- Between 21 and 33 years
    SC/ST candidates- Between 21 and 35 years

Educational qualifications required for this exam is Graduation Pass

Attempts Given to Candidates is 4 for General candidates and 7 for OBC candidates

Next UPSC Civil services prelims Exams will be held on 19th May 2013
Notification will come out on 2nd February 2013

So, if you belong to reserved Category, than you get more time or else you should try to do well in your current sector and try to rise in that sector.
Many People acheive good position even in Private Sector

    Dear Aspirant,
There is no way to overcome the age factor.

If you belong to the reserved category then you will have some relaxation on your age.

According to your age you can take the exam just for once only.

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IAS:-

    >>The candidates should have a graduation degree in any stream.

    >>The age of the general candidates should be between 21-30years.

    >>For SC/ST candidates age is relaxed by5years and OBC by 3 years.

    >>The candidates should be Indian citizen.

    EXAM PATTERN:-

    >>Preliminary Exam

    >>Main Exam

    >>Interview.

But according to me it will be useless if you give the exam without preparation since the IAS exam is very tough.

You can know more from http://www.upsc.gov.in

Upper age relaxation for reserved category candidates is as follows:

    10 years for PWD & Ex service-men.

    Number of attempts:

    General category- 4

Re: How to overcome the age factor of IAS exam?

    Hi,

There is no way, you can overcome age limits in IAS exam.

If you are a general category, your maximum age limit is 30 years.

I think, you still are in that limit, so you can apply for iAS exam .

To be eligible for iAS exam -

    You should be an Indian.

You shouldbe a graduate from any recognised university.

Your age should be between 21 years to 30 years.

You should overccome your fear of performing well in the exam.

because its all about how and what you prepare and ofcourse your luck.

For better preparation, you should join some coaching after your job.

IAS requires a lot of dedicated preparation.

It would be difficult for you to prepare with your job, but it is not impossible.

So, join a coaching and study hard.

    • There is no way where you can overcome the age factor for the civil services examination for IAS.
    • Upsc Haven't change the upper age limit and your's age won't come down, rather it will increase.
    • However you can take the benefit of the upper age relaxations to the reserved category.
    • The general category age limit is 21 years to 30 years.
    • Due to upper age relaxations, the upper age limit for obc category is 33 years and for the sc/st category students it is 5 years.
    • As per the educational qualifications, you must have completed the graduation.

The criteria for the exam is below :
-> one should done their graduation from any recognized university

-> A final year student can also eligible for applying the exam , but before the main exam one have to complete the graduation .

-> age limit is 21-30 for general cast , 3 years relaxation for obc , 5 years relaxation for sc/st/ex-serviceman , 10 years relaxation for physically handicapped .

-> maximum 4 attempts are allowed for the general cast , 7 for obc cast and no limit for the no of attempts for the sc/st cast .

    ======================================

    Hi,

Let me first give you some overview of IAS exam.

IAS Exam is the administrative civil service exam of the Government of India. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the exam every year. Civil Services Examination is also known as IAS examination.
The preliminary examination which is held to select candidates for the next round mains will be replaced by Civil Services Aptitude Test.

The eligibility criteria for IAS exam 2013 is that the candidate must be 21-30 years as on 1/8/2013.
Now,you are 29 years of age as on 15th-September 2012.
So you have no options but to give the exam in 2013 if you are a General Category candidate.
But if you belong to SC/ST or OBC category, then you still have 5 more years with you to give it a shot!

As far as the preparations are concerned, you must not waste any time and start your preparations for the exam from now only.
I will suggest you to first of all check out the syllabus for the IAS exam.
Identify the weak areas and start working on them.
If you have any friend who is taking coaching for the IAS exam, then you can ask for the notes from him and study.
If you want, then you can too take up coaching classes for preparing for the IAS exam.

But keep in mind one thing that it is the self study and the amount of hard work that you put after going back home is really what matters.
Revise all the notes given by the teachers at the coaching centre.
Keep doing hard work and burn your night lamps!

Always keep two things in mind-
    1) Hard work is the only ladder to success
    2) Practice makes a man perfect

Best of Luck for the exam!
