Yes can become an IAS officer after completing your Engineering. There is no need of taking bachelor from any other subject.

Its true that completing IAS exam through Engineering subject is little tough and the number of seat is also less..

But with a good effort in right direction you can qualify this exam through your B.tech background also....

So, after completing your B.Tech degree you need to appear for the IAS exam which is being conducted by the UPSC...

UPSC conducts this exam every year with the name IES, IAS , IPS etc....

You can also apply when you will be in your final year...

And your age must be between 21 to 30 years..

Relaxation in the age available as per the government norms....

Qualifying in the written exam you will be called for the Interview...

Your Engineering Graduation will be sufficient to make you eligible for IAS examination. So you must study Engineering and should not think about leaving it.

Engineering Graduation will also make you eligible for other private jobs so you must carry with it and prepare for IAS exam along with it
    .

Age required for IAS exam is 21-30 years and there is age relaxation for reserved categories .

    SC/ST - 5 years relaxation

    OBC - 3 years relaxation

    Mode of Selection:

    -Preliminary Exam

    -Mains Exam

    -Interview

    Number of Attempts:

    General - 4

    OBC - 7

    SC/ST - no limit
