Min educational qualifications to appear in the IAS exams conducted by UPSC is Graduation pass
Min age to appear is 21 years
Max age to appear is 30 years

OBC gets 3 years age relaxation and SC/ST gets 5 years age relaxation.

Number of attempts given to general candiadtes is 4 and to OBC is 7 and unlimited to sc/st

No 10th class and 12th class percentage does not matter in the selction of candidates.

UPSC IAS exams are held in three stages
    Prelims
    mains
    interview
Next prelims exams will be held in may 2013 and forms will come out in feb 2013

in prelims there will be two papers
    PAPER 1 -GENERAL STUDIES
PAPER 2- General mental ability, english, reasoning, maths

Hi guest, whatever the percentage in 10th and 12th it doesn't matter for Indian administrative services i.e Ias exam . But you must be graduate from any of the stream from an approved university. Age bar for exam- for general candidate 21years-3o years. Three and five years relaxation to Obc and sc/st candidates respectively. The exam is divided in three parts i.e prelims, next is main exam and last step is interview. Thanx

    IAS means Indian Administrative Services.

This is a Civil service and written exam is conducted by UPSC.

    Educational qualification:

Upper age relaxation for reserved category candidates is as follows:

    3 years for OBC.
    5 years for SC/ST
    10 years for PWD & Exservice-men.

Your 10th and 12th marks doesn't matter here only a degree from recognized university is needed.

    Exam Pattern :

All India Combined Competitive Examination for the Civil Services conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) comprises of two successive stages:

Preliminary Examination: It is of objective type, which is a qualifying examination.
Main Examination: It consists of written examination and interview.

The Preliminary Examination is held in May/June and the Main Examination in October/November. One must begin preparations of the main exam along with preliminary exam. This is because there is little time for the Main exam if one waits for the results of the Preliminaries.

    Number of attempts:

    General category- 4

    OBC - 7

There is no limit for SC/ST.

Next UPSC Civil services Preliminary exam is on 19-05-2013.
