    Hi sir, i am a B.Sc Nursing student. I want to prepare for ias .. So plz give me proper guidence about chosen subjects for mains exam.

    yes , of course you are eligible to sit in IAS exam.
    The subject selection totally depends upon your choice and the field you have graduated.

    Eligibility criteria for IAS exam-

    your age should be in between 21 to 30 years.
    you should be graduate.
    you should be the citizen of India.

    IAS stands for Indian Administrative Officer and the examination is conducted by the UPSC for every . The Important Notification for IAS Examination may published in Employment news paper and Official website of UPSC .

    The Selection procedure for IAS Examination may divided into Preliminary Examination and Main Examination . Preliminary Examination is Based in the objective Type question with multiple choice .

    Eligibility Criteria :-

    If your interested to apply for this Examination then you should complete Graduation in any discipline from recognized university . Any stream candidate may eligible to apply for this Examination like, Commerce / Science / Arts etc... Final year candidate may also eligible to apply for this Examination .

    Your age should be 21 years to 30 years and relaxation is applicable for sc/st candidates and obc candidates . You should be Citizen of India . Citizen of Other National are Not eligible to apply for this Examination . You should be physically as well as Medically fit .

    Every General candidates may eligible to apply for this Examination Minimum 4 times . If your belong from obc candidate then relaxation is given for 7 time and there is no limit for sc/st candidates .

    You are elligible to appear in the IAS exam. The minimum qualification required to give the exam is graduation in any stream.For the mains exams, You have to choose exams in which you have a good command. It will help you get good score in the tests. As you said , you are doing B.sc nursing then you have the option to choose the subjects from these are-
    Economics , Electrical Engineering,Geography, Geology ,History, Law,Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology,Statistics, Zoology, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology,Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy.

    The Main examination comprises of nine papers, all of them of a descriptive type conducted within a span of 20 days.The main Examination is intended to assess the overall intellectual traits and depth of understanding of candidates rather than merely the range of their information and memory.So u have to prepare very hard.

    For the mains exams, You have to choose exams in which you have a good command. It will help you get good score in the tests. As you said , you are doing B.sc nursing then you have the option to choose the subjects from these are-

    IAS exam taken by UPSC once in a year .
    The eligibility criteria for the UPS exam is below :
    -> one should done their graduation from any recognized university


    -> A final year student can also eligible for applying the exam , but before the main exam one have to complete the graduation .


    -> age limit is 21-30 for general cast , 3 years relaxion for obc , 5 years relaxion for sc/st/ex-serviceman , 10 years relaxion for physically handicapped .


    -> maximum 4 attempts are allowed for the general cast , 7 for obc cast and no limit for the no of attempts for the sc/st cast .

    The exam pattern is below :
    -> there are three parts in the exam .
    1) preliminary exam
    2) main exam
    3) interview






    Preliminary exam consist two papers
    1.General Study
    2.Optional subject
    and one should pass this exam for qualifying for the next round .


    Main exam consists 9 descriptive type paper
    1-Any language defined in constitution of India
    2-english
    3-essay
    4-general study
    5-general study
    6-optional subject-1
    7-optional subject-1
    8-optional subject-2
    9-optional subject-2


    The first two papers marks are not considered but one should pass this two paper compulsory .

    UPSC conducts the civil services aptitute test (CSAT) for the filling up the positions in 24 govt departments that incluses IAS, IPS, IFS

    Minimum eligibilty is graduation pass
    Min age-21 years
    Max age-30 years
    OBC gets 3 years age relaxtion and SC/ST gets 5 years age relaxation

    Number of attempts-4 for general and 7 for OBC and no restriction for SC/ST candidates

    Exams are held in three stages that is:
    Prelims-In this exams there is two papers which is common for all the candidates with no optional papers
    Paper 1 is of general studies and paper 2 is of english comprehension, general mental abilty etc

    If you clear prelims than you ahve to sit in the mains exams
    Here you have to choose the optional papers;
    you can choose subjects like indian history and geography as subjects

    Next Prelims exams will be held in may 2013

    Once, the candidate qualifies preliminary exam, he has to appear for the main exam .

    * Civil services exam is one of the most competitive exams in India conducted by UPSC....!

    * You have to first of all appear for Preliminary exam.....!

    * Only if you clear this you will be able to appear for the Main examination later....

    * Be prepared in GK, current affairs, aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal skills....!

    * For the main exam , you have 9 subjects.....!

    * One language paper, another English paper and then an Essay paper - totally three here....!

    * Fourth and fifth are general studies paper...
