Re: Eligibility for Assistant Professor in Private University?

    Hi,

As per UGC – University Grants Commission, candidates aspiring to become lecturer / professor in colleges should have qualified NET.

    NET – National eligibility Test.

This is applicable strictly to government colleges.

But as per private universities, this is not compulsory.

If you want to apply for Assistant professor post in private uiiversities, then the eligibility is-

You should be a first class post graduate in the concerned subject.

The experience holders will be preferred.

NET qualified post graduates will also be preferred.

So, it is more about preferences in private colleges.

If you have experience, then it is good.

If you are NET qualified, it is again better.

Now, for Government colleges , NET is compulsory.

    Eligibility criteria for NET -

A Post graduate candidate from a recognized university can aplly for this exam.

There is no age limitation for NET.
