Dear aspirant,I am impressed to you that you have a such nice aim of serve with civil services. For IAS you need to complete your graduation in any stream. There is nothing like that one stream is easy otherone is hard.As you have told you have done 12th with biology. It is better to you continoue with PCB and do Bsc with bio. From this year the pattern for IAS examination that is CSAT , has been changed. In MAINs examination there is no option for choosing subject that means paper will be same for everyone. To crack CSAT you need increase your knowledge in every field. You need to prepare a high level General knowledge which contains -General awarness-General science-Current GK-History-Politics-Philosophy-Hindi and englishwhich means basic knowledge of everything. So you need to starts preparation from now intially and keep it continoue till examination. All the bestregardsSd

    Hi there,

As you have mentioned that you are a PCB degree holder student, then you should pursue further education in Physics or chemistry since these are scoring subjects. Since these papers has numericals and if you correctly solve them, there is not going to be any deductions.

Re: Degree to opt after 12th for IPS and IAS? Which would be easy for the entrance exam?

For IAS and IPS you need to opt for CSAT examination i.e. Civil Services Aptitude Test

    IAS >>>>>> Indian Administrative Service
    IPS >>>>>> Indian Police Service

    Eligibility For CSAT examination >>>>>>

    >Graduation from a recognized university in any discipline

    >no restriction on marks aggregate...but there should not be any pending backlogs

    >Final year students can apply

Verify Your CSAT Eligibility here >>>>>> http://www.iasexams.com/AgeLimitForI...ForIASExam.php

Age limit for CSAT is 30 years for general candidates

But there is relaxation for OBC (2 years), SC/ST(5 years ) and Physically handicapped (10 years)
you will also get these details in the above mentioned link

Now coming to the question of taking the best stream in 12th

It will be best if you go with PCM (physics Chemistry maths )

    >It will boost up your aptitude and mathematics skills

    >Side by side you need to prepare for English which is very tough in IAS exam

    >Take some Specialized coaching or training to learn the skills to crack CSAT

    >Take some MOCK Tests to understand the paper standard

Syllabus and HOW to PREPARE FOR CSAT >>>>>

To be an IAS or IPS, you have to take civil services exam.
The degree is not an issue in the case.
You need to be with the exam- It is:
The civil service exam consists of 3 phases->> Preliminary, Mains and an interview.

    In the prelimnary,its Paper 1 and 2-
the paper 1 consists of geography, histroy, polity, environment etc.
the paper 2 consists of aptitude, data interpretation, reasoning, numerical ability etc.

in mains you have to take optional subjects out of these:
    Agriculture
    Anthropology
    Assamese
    Chemistry
    Chinese
    Commerce and Accountancy
    Electrical Engineering
    French
    Geology
    Gujarati
    Kannada
    Konkani
    Law
    Manipuri
    Mathematics
    Medical Science
    Nepali
    Pali
    Physics
    Psychology
    Punjabi
    Sanskrit
    Sociology
    Tamil
    Urdu
    Zoology
    Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    Arabic
    Bengali
    Botany
    Civil Engineering,
    Economics
    English
    Geography
    German
    Hindi
    History
    Kashmiri
    Malayalam
    Management
    Marathi
    Mechanical Engineering
    Oriya
    Persian
    Philosophy
    Political Science and International Relations
    Public Administration
    Russian
    Sindhi
    Statistics
    Telugu..

Then there you get objective as well as subjective exams on these.

So its upto you entirely, which subjects you have good hold on and you are interested.
After deciding the subjects, you can choose to pursue a degree in that or study that really hard to be upto that level !!

Then there is an interview for selected candidates

Dear aspirant it depends on your interest which field you want to choose after 10+2 . Every one has their own weakness and strong points you have to choose your strong points . You should choose a subject which is most interesting for you , this will help you in studying extra hours as IAS requires a lot of study .

So you should avoid choosing those subjects which do not interests you otherwise you will not study and it will be very difficult for you to clear the exam.

    BEST OF LUCK...
