Re: Can I attend IAS exam having less than 60% in 10th and 12th?

    Dear Friend,
There is no restriction on the marks. The UPSC have not mentioned any minimum marks for the candidates to appear for IAS.

But IAS is very tough to crack. You need hard labor and determination to crack the exam. The Indian Administrative Service is conducted by UPSC once in a year.

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
    1. The candidates should have a bachelor degree in any stream from a recognized university. No minimum marks is required.
    2. The candidates should be Indian citizen.
    3. The age of the general candidates should be 21-30 years. For the SC/ST candidates age is relaxed by 5 year and OBC by 3 years.
    NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS:
    • General Candidates- 4
    • SC/ST Candidates- no limit
    • OBC Candidates- 7
    EXAM PATTERN:
    • Preliminary Exam
    • Main Exam
    • Interview

The candidates need to choose any 2 optional subjects:

IAS is not an matter to get high score in the academic field rather it is about how to perform well in the Preliminary and Main exams.

The knowledge about the optional subject you will choose should be clear to you.

    You can check http://www.upsc.gov.in

Re: Can I attend IAS exam having less than 60% in 10th and 12th?

Percentage of marks in 10 th and 12 th are no concern for appearing in the Civil service entrance examination . The basic qualification is that you should be a graduate from a recognized University and you are an Indian citizen. Your actual eligibility for IAS will be assessed in the entrance test conducted by the UPSC every year.

The test is conducted in three parts

    The preliminaries.

    The Mains

    Interview

All the three parts are very important and very tough. Out of more than five lakh applicants tested by the UPSC every year , only between 800 to 900 could qualify and cross the border. It is therefore essential to undergo any coaching class of reputed institute as a preparation , though it is not sufficient as you have to be well conversant with the date to day affairs of India together with updated GK and IQ level.
