Re: Can I appear for IAS exam being BA 2nd year student?

Sorry to say but currently you are not eligible for the IAS exam .

The criteria for the IAS exam is below :

=> one must be graduated in any stream from any recognized university .

=> A final year students can also give the exam but before main exam one have to complete the graduation .

    => Age limit :
    21-30 for general
    21-33 for obc
    21-35 for sc/st
    21-35 for ex-serviceman
    21-40 for pwd

As per the above criteria only final year or graduate students can give the exam .

So you have to wait one more year for being eligible for the exam .

Till you prepare for the exam .

The structure of the exam is very simple , it has three stages .

    Preliminary exam
    Main exam
    Interview

Preliminary exam is just for qualifying for next exam , its marks are not considered in final result .

It has two objective type papers .

Main exam have 9 descriptive type papers .

At last there will be interview .

So you just prepare for the preliminary exam first .

    Hi dear,
No dear. Sorry to say but you cant appear IAS while you are a BA 2nd year student.
You have to be a minimum final year student in any stream to be eligible to give IAS exam.

    UPSC conducts IAS exam.
    The eligibility criteria are
-Graduation pass minimum in any stream.
-Minimum age required is 21 years and maximum is 28 years
-Number of attempts is limited to 4 only.

Relaxation for number of attempts and age limit is there for obc/sc/st candidates according to Govt. rules.

    All the best

Re: Can I appear for IAS exam being BA 2nd year student?

    Dear,
As you are saying that you'll be able to get the graduation certificate in May, I believe you have already completed 2nd
year of graduation and now you are in final year.
Being a final year graduate you are surely eligible for Civil Services exams. You just need to meet the eligibility

criteria of Civil service exams which I am explaining below:
    - Your age should be in between 21-30 years and there is relaxation in age to OBC/SC/ST.
    - You must have passed graduation in any stream like Arts, Science, Commerce or any professional courses like engineering

    or medical courses.
    - 4 attempts are allowed for general candidates, 7 for OBC and there is no restriction on the number of attempts to SC/ST

    candidates.
The exam consists of 3 rounds:
    - Preliminary
    - Mains
    - Interview.
This year, last date to apply for civil service exam has already passed as it was 4th march.
The preliminary round is on 19th May.
So hope you must have filled the form and preparation must be going on in full swing.
Please let me know in case you need further help.

Re: Can I appear for IAS exam being BA 2nd year student?

    HELLO FRIENDS.....................

I THINK THAT YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THIS EXAM.

    Educational Qualification
The candidate must hold any degree in any discipline from any recongnized university
Final year degree students who will obtain degree by August 1, 2013 are also eligible for CSAT 2013
The degree can be of any class (distinction, first, second etc.)
Degree obtained by distance education/open university is also eligible if the university is a recognized university

    Number of attempts permitted
For some candidates there is a limit on the number of times you can attempt IAS Exams (Civil Services exams)
Even attending to one paper of CSAT (IAS prelim exam) counts as an attempt
Applying for CSAT (IAS prelim exam) but not attending for any paper DOES NOT count as an attempt

    General Category 4
    OBC 7
    Physically Handicapped 7
    SC & ST

    THANKS............................
No limit on number of attempts
