    Am I eligible for writing IES exam from Electronics and Communication?

    Sir, i have completed my b.tech degree in biomedical instrumentation engineering this year.I want to write the IES exam from electronics and communication engineering.So,am i eligible for writing the exam?Please ,reply me on my mail id.Mail id is - dubey.pratik3@gmail.com

    IES Full form is Indian Engineering Services.
    Eligibility for IES :

    >Candidate's minimum age should be 21 year and maximum 30 year.
    >Candidate must be citizen of india or subject of Nepal or Bhutan or tibetian refugee or person of indian origin who has migrated from other contry(as per recruitment advertise).
    >Candidate must have engineering degree from recognized university.
    Or
    >Candidate should have passed section A and B of Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers in india.
    Or
    >Candidate have Obtained degree/diploma in foreign University/College/Institution recognized by government.
    Or
    >Candidate have passed graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers in india or Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers,London was held after November,1959.
    Or
    >Candidate should passed associate membership examination part two and three or section A,B of Aeronautical Society of India.

    Yes...as a electrical student you can go for IES examination.

    IES: Indian Engineering Service.

    The minimum eligibility for IES is you have to complete your graduation from any recognized university.

    Electrical
    Mechanical
    Telecommunication.


    So you can go for IES examination.

    IES stands for Indian Engineering Service.


    This exam conducted by the union public service commission every year.


    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA for IES ;


    You must be a citizen of India.


    You must be complete the graduation in engineering from any recognizde university. There is no minimum percentage of marks required for this exam.


    your age limit should be 21 to 30 years.


    The age relaxation for obc candidates is 3 years. And the sc/st candidates is 5 years.


    Both male and female candidates are eligible for this exam.


    The candidate should be physically fit for this exam.

    The eligibility criteria for applying in the IES exams is
    The students who have completed their degree in the following engineering departments are eligibile for IES
    1)MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
    2)CIVIL ENGINEERING
    3)ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING
    4)ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING​
    the age limit is 21 to 30 years for general candidate,21 to 33 years for OBC,21 to 35 years for sc/st.
    so you can apply for IES after completing your engineering degree.

    Engineering Services Exam is conducted by UPSC every year for recruiting engineering officers.

    Those who have done Graduation in following Engineering Disciplines are eligible to apply.

    -Civil Engineering

    -Mechanical Engineering

    -Electronics and Communication Engineering

    -Electrical Engineering

    Hence you are definitely eligible for IES exam so don't worry and start preparing for this exam.

    Make sure that your age is between 21 to 30 years if you are general category candidate.

    Yes Friend,
    You are eligible to apply for IES exam which is conducted by UPSC.

    The candidates need to take the IES exam in the stream the person is having the degree.

    IES is Indian Engineering Service. The exam is conducted once in a year.

    You also need to satisfy the other ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA for applying in the exam:-

    =>The candidates should have a B.Tech/B.E degree in any stream.

    =>There is no minimum marks required.

    =>The age of the general candidates should be 21-30years.

    =>Age is relaxed by 5years for SC/ST and 3years for OBC.

    =>The candidates should be Indian citizen.

    EXAM PATTERN:-

    Indian engineering services Exams are conducted by UPSC each year.

    Next exam will be held on 28th June 2013 for 3 days
    Notification for this exam will come out on 16th March 2013
    last date to apply is 15th April 2013

    Educational Qualifications:A degree in Engineering from a recognised University

    Age- Minimum 21 years and Maximum 30 years
    OBC gets 3 yaers age relaxations and SC/ST gets 5 years age relaxations

    This exam is held to make recruitements in the below branches:
    >> Civil
    >> Electrical
    >> Mechanical
    >> Electronics and Telecommunications

    So, yes you can give this Exam next year
    Start Preparing for this exam from now only

    I don’t think , you are eligible for IES examination as you have not done your engineering form the streams prescribed by UPSC.

    How can you apply from Electronics & Communication stream, when you have done B.Tch in Biomedical Instrumentation engineering.

    Check the eligibility criteria prescribed by UPSC for IES exam -

    Eligibility criteria for IES exam –

    You should have completed B.Tech / B.E. in any of the given streams of engineering –

    1. Mechanical engineering

    2. Electrical engineering

    3. Electronics and Communication Engineering

    4. Civil engineering

    Final Year students can also apply for iES.

    Your age should be between 21 years to 30 years.

    Age relaxation for OBC, SC /ST as per government rules.
