    Am I eligible to appear in IFS exam having completed B.Sc(Microbiology)?

    Respected sir/madam
    I did competed my B.Sc in microbiology
    with optional subject zoology and chemistry
    can you please tell me can i eligible for apply IFS examination?

    Indian Forest Service Exams are conducted by UPSC

    You can apply if you meet the below eligibilty conditions:

    Education
    Graduation pass and in Graduation you should have studied at least one of the below subjects :
    Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics,
    Physics, Statistics, Zoology

    or
    Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry

    Or
    BE/Btech pass

    Age-
    Minimum age to apply is 21 years
    Maximum age to apply is 30 years
    OBC can apply till 33 years
    SC/ST can apply till 35 years

    Attempts-
    General Category candidates can apply for 4 times
    OBC category candidates can apply for 7 times

    Paper IV Optional paper

    IFS Stands for Indian Forest Service


    If you have completed graduation degree with at least one of the subjects namely, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognised university then you are eligible for this exam...

    Final years students of graduation degree also eligible for this exam...

    Age should be between 21 to 30 years. There is a relaxation available for Reserved Category....

    For OBC category : up to 33 years.

    For SC/ST category : up to 35 years.

    For PH : up to 40 years..

    Citizenship of India...

    Written Examination - Conventional (essay) type:



    Paper I - General English 300 Marks

    Paper II - General Knowledge 300 Marks

    Paper III, IV, V & VI - Any two subjects to be selected from the list of optional subjects set out below. Each subject will have two papers. 200 Marks for each paper

    Total marks for written examination 1400 Marks

    IFS stands for Indian forest services

    Yes you can apply for IFS exam after completing B.Sc(microbiology)
    IFS exam is conducted by UPSC board only

    Educational Qualifications required for IFS:
    1. The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the following subjects:
    i. Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
    ii. Botany
    iii. Chemistry
    iv. Geology
    v. Mathematics
    vi. Physics
    vii. Statistics and Zoology
    viii. Agriculture
    ix. Forestry
    x. Agriculture Engineering
    xi. Forestry Engineering.


    Number of attempts:
    1. General candidates: four attempts.
    2. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction.
    3. Other Backward Classes: seven attempts.


    Age Limits:
    1. A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years.


    Age relaxations :
    1. Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe: upto a maximum of five years.
    2. Other Backward Classes: upto a maximum of three years.
    3. Ex-servicemen will get relxation upto a maximum of five years.
    4. Blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons: upto a maximum of ten years.

    • IFS stands for Indian forest services, the examination which is conducted every year by UPSC.
    • You must have graduation degree in any of the below subjects Animal Husbandry &Veterinary Science, Botany,Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology.
    • OR you need to have bachelor degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering.
    • The age limit determined for the IFS examination is 21 years to 30 years.
    • If you are from reserved category then upper age relaxations is provided to you.

    So you no need to Worry

    I think you have completed the B.Sc Microbiology Graduation ...Right !!!



    Well ... It is considered as a GRADUATION ...

    It may be of any Stream


    You must have a minimum of 21 years

    Maximum age is allowed up to 30 years


    Of course there will be an Age relaxation for the reserved candidates


    OBC --- 3 years

    SC / ST --- 5 years ...


    You must be an Indian Citizen
