the age criteria for Civil services exams is:

21 to 30 years. but there is relaxation i.e. it depends on the category.

For general its 21 to 30 years.
relaxation for SC/ST is 5 years.
relaxation for OBC is 3 years.

The % of 10 or 12 class does not affect it greatly but the candidate should be passed in them.

the candidate should be a graduate for this and you can not appear after 10 or 12 class..

Eligibility for IAS Officer Exam - 2012-13

A bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks

Age should be between 21-30 years and relaxation in age as per government guidelines

5 years upper age relaxation for SC/ST and 3 years upper age relaxation for OBC category

If you have above mentioned eligibility then you may apply for IAS Officer exam and there is no matter about the percentage marks of your previous study as you have asked about 10th and 12th but you must be passed from a recognized board or institute in your all previous academics and must have all valid certificates

There are two different parts of IAS exam in which first is Prelims exam then second would be mains exam

If you qualify the Prelims then you would be allowed to appear for second descriptive test and first would be in objective type format

After qualifying the first test you will have to choose your choice subjects for mains exam and you will have to show your command and strength in those subjects in mains exam

After qualifying the mains exam you will have to face interview process which would be your last step to become an IAS Officer in India

so prepare well for exam because this exam consider as the toughest exam in India and you would have to give at least 15-18 hours for your study then you may get your goal.

    All the best

    * It is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission...!!

    * You have to be a Indian citizen..

    * And you must be a graduate in any particular discipline....!!

    * The percentage in your 10th, 12th and degree doesn't matter here...

    * The score in your main exam and interview only matters for your posting and all...!!

    * So, you need not worry about the percentage in 10th and 12th ....!!

    * This age limit is relaxable for BC upto 3 years and 5 years for SC/ST....!

Re: Age criteria for IAS exam? Whether 10th and 12th percentage matters for IAS?

Here is the required age criteria for IAS Exam..

One should be in the age group of 21-30 years.
Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category.
Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST category.

One should have completed Graduation to be eligible for IAS Exam.

No. The percentage of marks in 10th and 12th does not matter to appear for IAS Exam.

Whether you have completed graduation or not.

That only matters to be eligible for IAS Exam.

    Prepare well and crack it.

    Hi,

See,the age criteria is as following->
    21-30 years as on 1/8/2013.
That means that a candidate should have an age in between 21 to 30 years.

There are some relaxations that have been given to SC/ST and OBC candidates.
    There is a
relaxation of 5 years in the upper limit of the age.

Not only this, the percentage that you get in 10th and 12th class does not matter for IAS criteria.
You need to be a graduate and should have done graduation from a university that is recognized by UGC.

So start preparing for the exam from the word go!

Best of Luck for the exam!

For appearing the IAS the minimum age limit is 21 years and maximum age limit is as follows...
    Category Age limit
    General 31
    OBC 34
    Sc/St No age barriers

and the marks of 10th and 12th does not mean for the IAS exam. So, you dont need to bother for the 10th 12th marks you only need to concentrate for the final exam that is the entrance exam of IAS.

    Hi,

IAS exam is conducted every year by UPSC and any Indian can sit for his exam, provided he/ she fulfils the eligibility criterias.

IAS entrance exam is called as CSAT - Civil Services Aptitude Test.

These are the eligibility Criteria for CSAT -

    Age -

    Minimum -21 years

    Maximum - 30 years.
