December is right around the corner! Which means…Christmas? Well, yes but also the most dreaded week of the school year: finals week. It’s coming up fast whether you like it or not. There is nothing you can do to prevent it. It will happen no matter what and you must deal with it. Look for the signs that show right before finals come around. If you can spot the signs, at least you will be prepared before the bomb drops.
1. There are no seats in the library.
You’ve looked on every single floor, even the basement where no one ever goes and every single seat is taken. Oh, and did I mention it’s a Friday night? You walk around until finally you see a girl zipping up their backpack. Some guy is eyeing her seat so you book it to the table and sit down the moment the girl stands up. The guy glares at you for getting to the seat first. Survival of the fittest right? This is a sure sign that everyone is studying for finals.
2. There are no energy drinks in any store within a 10 mile radius.
You’ve even resorted going all the way to the nearest Walmart and everything is sold out. The next shipment doesn’t come in for another 2 days. You decide you will be the first in line when that shipment comes. Energy drinks are a core element during finals week. People need them to pull all nighters studying and writing papers. Finals week has finally come when energy drinks are hard to come by.
3. Everyone looks like they just hopped out of bed.
And the fact is, most of them probably did. Everyone will be wearing sweats or yoga pants and slippers of some sort. Messy buns will be the new way to wear your hair. Girls might not be wearing makeup and guys will all have lots of scruff. It’s probably the worst time to try and meet someone. No one is looking their best because everyone is just too stressed out for that finals week.
4. There are lots of new students in class.
Students that you saw the first day and then never saw again, will start coming to every class. Your class that is usually pretty empty will be full of new faces. Maybe you will be that student that never came to class. All of a sudden you need to cram as much information in your brain so you can at least pass the final. You will start showing up to every class.
5. Everyone is sniffling, sneezing and coughing.
By this time, not only is the cold weather causing a lot of sickness, but also because of the fact that no one is getting any sleep because of studying. People are going to be constantly blowing their nose and you are going to have to listen to it day in and day out. You also may get sick a couple weeks before finals start. Be cautious and get lots of sleep. You will know finals is around the corner when you start to hear all of those sniffles.
